Vultures
Present across all latitudes, birds are the true barometers of our planet. It was the observation of their diversity, specifically the Galapagos finches, that allowed Charles Darwin to lay the foundations of the theory of evolution. With over 10,000 species identified, they embody a fascinating resilience, having colonized every environment through extraordinary adaptations.
However, this richness is now under threat. Habitat loss and climate change are taking a heavy toll on their populations. To photograph these winged beings is to document their fragile beauty, but also to bear witness to the urgent need to protect these travelers who, through their flight, connect the globe’s ecosystems.
